Hobby Horse Derby

Join us on April 27 for our first-ever Hobby Horse Derby! We’re thrilled to offer this new event, so register online today and be part of the fun. 

The day’s schedule is as follows:

12:30: Registration (in front of Mansion) and practice area opens. Food trucks will be on site, so come hungry! EZ Squeezy Lemonade, El Mr Taco, and Funnel Cake Delights will be here to provide you with some delicious eats.

1:45 PM: Barrel Races and Jump Courses open

3:00: Races End, Tallying of Scores

3:15 PM: Best Dressed Horse and Rider

3:30: Awards

Food trucks onsite and race stations open until 5 PM

The pleasure ride may be done at any time during the event, at your own speed and in your own style! Pick up a passport at the registration table.

The barrel race is a 3-barrel cloverleaf pattern. Racers will take a lap around each barrel before returning to the start, and the race is timed.

The jump course will have jumps of different heights for each age group. A fault will be incurred if the jump is not cleared or the jump is knocked down.

7 -9: all 12″ tall

10-12: 2 12″ and 2 18″

13 – 15: 1 12″, 2 18″, and 1 24″

16+: 1 each 12″ and 18″, 2 24″

 

Derby Rules:

-Riders must remain fully mounted for the duration of their time on the course. No side carrying.

-While dressing up is encouraged, please be sure costumes are comfortable and appropriate for the event.

-Participants must bring their own horse.

-Be a good sport and have fun!
